Andrew McLeish's journey in photography began during his studies at the Cambridge School of Art in the United Kingdom. After earning his Bachelor of Arts with Honors, he followed his passion to the vibrant streets of Paris, where he pursued a Master's Degree in Fine Art Photography at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts.
During his second year in the Master's program, Andrew embarked on an internship in the publishing department of the iconic Magnum Photos. At the same time, his photoreportage work secured the 'Prix du Public' at the Paris Match Student Photojournalism Award.
Early work as a photojournalist earned him the 'Prix Déclic' from the 'Observatoire de l'Image' and a 'Mention spéciale' in the Young Photo Reporter Category at the Scoop International Journalism Festival for his pictures of the violent anti-CPE demonstrations in Paris.
Andrew's lens has taken him to diverse corners of the world, where he has passionately documented various projects. These adventures included capturing the environmental challenges linked to melting tropical glaciers in Latin America and shedding light on homelessness in the bustling streets of Tokyo.
In 2009, Andrew cycled 1,300 kilometers along the former border between East and West Germany, capturing the enduring remnants of the Iron Curtain two decades after its historic fall.
His photos from Lake Victoria in Africa were broadcast on German TV channel ProSeiben during their prime time show 'Galileo Big Pictures.' The two hour documentary showing 50 of the most emotional and remarkable photos from around the world was viewed by over 1.5 million viewers (14% of the national audience).
Today, Andrew is an accomplished photographer who specializes in capturing engaging features and portraits for esteemed editorial and corporate clients on both national and international levels. He also frequently acts as a personal documentary photographer during official visits to Paris, where he's had the honour of working with prominent figures like actor Will Smith and the former Australian Governor General, Sir Peter Cosgrove.
